Campaign Reports

Summary

Week 1 - 2

Stage 2 Lockdown was not widely known about in this area and people welcomed the relaxation of restriction. Our team emphasised that the best protection was still self isolation as much as possible.

The affordability of masks is a huge problem in this area as many of the families living here are dependant on food handouts to survive. Perhaps the issuing of a flyer with a pattern and instruction on how to make their own mask could be looked into as an alternative.

Our team came across several funerals that exceeded the legal limit for a gathering. And in all cases people refused to wear masks, saying that it would be disrespectful to wear one at a funeral. However the team did manage to convince people that at the very least they could socially distance.

GBV and child protection has been pushed hard in this area, there has been a lot of interest shown by communities and individuals alike.

The majority had no idea about the hotlines and are happy that the platforms are in place.

One instance of child abuse (physical) was brought directly to our teams in the field and this was escalated immediately and has been handled by a Social Welfare volunteer.

Covid-19 information retention is good in many of the areas and hand washing has become routine in many communities and businesses.

Social distancing is still a concept that many forget about or ignore. Our team is pushing social distancing hard during the activations.

The survey is going well here, and people are happy to engage with our team.
